You must complete missions to allow the storyline to progress and unlock the game’s content—Shen’s actions - fighting, driving, and racing - grant statistical rewards and achievements.
As for the game’s aesthetics, the Definitive Edition resolved the biggest faults of the original Sleeping Dogs. Draw distances are vastly extended, textures are much sharper, and Hong Kong’s lights shine brighter—however, the game’s framerate stutters when you’re running or exploring.

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition came out two years after the old-gen version - and it was worth waiting for. It stands out from other action games with its great storyline and action-packed scenes. The premise in itself keeps you on your toes as a snitch inside China’s biggest organized crime group. As you earn the trust of the members, you will rise up the ranks of the game’s leveling system.
With this experience, the rubric will provide you rewards in three categories: cop, member of the criminal Triad, and citizen of Hong Kong. Earning experience points in these categories can conflict with one another. But diving into this system will be a lot of fun. You’ll see this as your character, Shen, gets stronger and more experienced. His disregard for the citizens of Hong Kong will not get you much love in the Face meter, but keeping up with the law will bring you plenty of cop experience points.
